Powered by Donors. Guided by Care.
As we step into 2026, we want to pause and reflect on what 2025 meant at Caring for Cats. It was a year that required flexibility, resilience, and deep commitment from our volunteers, foster families, staff, and supporters. Through it all, one thing never changed. Our promise to show up for every cat who needed us.
By the Numbers and By the Heart
In 2025, Caring for Cats welcomed 219 cats into our care. During the year, 217 cats found loving homes, resulting in a 99 percent adoption to intake ratio. Some months even saw more adoptions than intakes, which speaks to the strength of our community and the care taken to match cats with the right families
Behind every number is a story of patience, healing, and trust. Cats arrived with a wide range of needs, and thanks to thoughtful care and individualized attention, the vast majority were able to move on to their next chapter.
Healthcare Made Possible by Donors
None of this happens by chance. The medical care provided at Caring for Cats is only possible because of donor support and the support of our friends at TLC Veterinary Clinic. In 2025, donations funded routine wellness exams, vaccinations, spay and neuter surgeries, diagnostic testing, medications, and ongoing treatment plans for cats with chronic or complex needs.
Your generosity allows us to make medical decisions based on what is best for each cat, not on financial limitations. It gives our healthcare team the ability to act quickly, provide preventative care, and support long-term health so cats are truly ready for adoption when they meet their families.
Foster Care as a Lifeline
Foster care continued to be a vital part of our work in 2025. Twenty-three temporary foster parents supported 88 cats and kittens, including newborn kittens, nursing moms, adults needing medical care, and cats waiting for space at the shelter. Foster homes provide comfort, stability, and individualized care that simply cannot be replicated in a shelter setting
As we begin 2026, we are caring for 32 cats in the shelter and 9 kittens in temporary foster care, supported by a foster network that makes it possible to say yes when cats need us most.
Excellence in Shelter Operations
Caring for Cats successfully passed all required inspections in 2025, including the Minnesota Board of Animal Health kennel inspection. Inspectors noted that the organization is intentional about every aspect of physical and emotional care, and that the facility provides above standard care with strong enrichment and socialization practices
Throughout the year, ongoing facility maintenance and safety improvements supported a healthy environment for both cats and volunteers, from HVAC cleaning and plumbing maintenance to fire safety inspections and security upgrades.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Every success in 2025 was made possible by community support. Donations, volunteer hours, foster homes, and advocacy ensure that Caring for Cats remains a place where every cat receives thoughtful, individualized care and the time they need to find the right home.
Thank you for being part of this work. We could not do it without you. See our annual report for more details.
