Dental Disease in Cats Is Common – and Painful
Did you know that dental disease affects about 70% of cats? It’s not just painful—it can also be expensive to treat. At Caring for Cats, we’re dedicated to making sure every cat gets the care they need, and Siren’s story is a great example of that commitment.
Meet Siren: A Young Tortie with a Big Personality
Siren is a friendly, playful one-year-old tortie who was born in July 2024. As she grew, Siren developed juvenile gingivitis—a dental problem that can happen when a kitten’s adult teeth come in. This condition needs quick treatment to stop it from getting worse.
A Tough Diagnosis and a Long Road to Healing
Siren’s journey included several vet visits, x-rays, and dental cleanings under anesthesia. She even had to have 14 teeth removed (most adult cats have 30 teeth!). Throughout her treatment, Siren received pain relief and lots of TLC from our medical team.
Thanks to fast action and expert care, Siren’s dental disease didn’t get any worse. And the good news? Cats can live happy, healthy lives with just a few teeth—so Siren is ready to enjoy every moment ahead as she awaits to be adopted by her forever family.
