As much as all of us at Caring for Cats love the kitties in our care, we hope their stays with us will be short. Finding each one of them a loving forever family is our top goal.
Sometimes, though, a cat needs more time with us to be truly ready for adoption.
Maria is one of those cats. At six years old, she was found on the streets with no trust or time for people. After having her healthcare needs met, she settled into a room with other quiet, shy kitties.
As Maria started feeling safe, our volunteers began the work of building trust with Maria on her terms. It can be a long process, but Maria—like every cat—deserved the effort and time.
Animal shelters are often portrayed as sad places. But Caring for Cats is all about love and healing. We get to know every kitty and do what we can to make them comfortable and ready for their next happy chapter with their forever family.
One year and seven months later, Maria was really blossoming, accepting pets from volunteers she knows love her. She was walking around like she owned the place—because let’s face it, she did!
