The Cat-munity Shows Up

Oct 17, 2026 | Success Stories

A safe place to begin

A sweet little cat arrived at Caring for Cats this summer after being abandoned in a carrier.

Neighbors found him and made sure he got somewhere safe, bringing him straight to us.

We didn’t know where he had come from, how long he had been on his own, or even his name. But we knew he needed help.

Edgar, as we named him, was settled into an intake kennel with flea and tick treatment, a cozy bed, a litter box, and fresh food and water.

We still didn’t know his whole story, but we could help him start a new one. We could keep him safe until he found his people.

After getting the care he needed, which included being neutered, Edgar went home with a family of his own.

One more happy ending, made possible by a Cat-munity that came through for him.

Some journeys take longer

Not every cat’s path moves so quickly. Just ask Henri-Etta.

When her previous owners moved out of their apartment, they left everything behind, including her. Kind neighbors discovered this brave 9.5-year-old lady outside in a cardboard box with nothing but a blanket. Like Edgar’s rescuers, they got her to safety, and she came to us.

Today she is stable and feeling great. She has a big personality and plenty to say.

She’d love to be the center of attention in a home without other cats, with adults or older children who appreciate a cat with real spirit.

Henri-Etta is ready for her happily-ever-after, and the right person just hasn’t found her yet.

And until we find them, she’ll be loved and cared for as long as it takes.

That’s what a Cat-munity does

There isn’t just one person behind a cat’s happy ending, and there isn’t just one moment when a cat needs us.

Sometimes it’s the neighbors who notice a cat in trouble and bring them somewhere safe.

Sometimes it’s the intake volunteers who make sure a new arrival has a warm bed, a full bowl, and the medical care they need.

Sometimes it’s the cat caregivers who spend time with a cat and find the personality underneath the fear.

Sometimes it’s the foster family who opens their home.

Sometimes it’s the adopter who finally says, “This is my cat.”

And sometimes it’s the supporter who makes all of those moments possible by sharing our content, donating funds, and spreading the word about Caring for Cats.

That’s a Cat-munity. We may never know where a cat’s story begins or everything they’ve been through, but when a cat needs us, we show up.

Help us keep going

We know you’re watching your budget. We are, too. Veterinary care, utilities, and everyday operations all cost more than they used to, and households and organizations alike are feeling the difference.

Your support helps us provide individualized care for cats like Edgar and Henri-Etta, and for the many others who come through our doors. It means we can say yes to the next cat who needs us while we keep caring for the ones still waiting for their people.

Whether you give $25, $50, $100, or $5 a month, your gift helps make that care possible.

Thank you for being part of our Cat-munity, helping us rescue one cat at a time.
