When we invited our Caring for Cats family to celebrate All American Pet Photo Day by sharing photos and stories of their beloved kitties, we hoped we’d see a few familiar faces.
Instead, our inboxes, Facebook messages, and online form quickly filled with wonderful updates from adopters and cat lovers eager to introduce us to the happy, healthy cats who now fill their homes with love, laughter, and just a little bit of mischief.
Some of these cats left our shelter only recently. Others have been part of their families for years. Seeing them thriving in their forever homes is one of the greatest joys of rescue.
Your stories remind us why we do this work. Every adoption is more than the day a cat leaves the shelter. It’s the beginning of a new chapter, and we’re honored that you’ve invited us to continue being a small part of those journeys.
Because we received so many wonderful submissions, we couldn’t fit them all into a single post. So today marks the beginning of a new feature on our blog: Cat-munity Updates.
We’ll continue sharing photos, adoption updates, and favorite memories here on our blog and on Facebook. We hope these stories bring a smile to your face, help you reconnect with some familiar feline friends, and maybe even inspire someone who’s considering adoption to open their heart to a cat in need.

Gracie & Lucy
Earlier this year, sisters Gracie and Lucy found their forever home together, and it sounds like these one-year-old best friends are making every day an adventure.
Their family tells us these sweet girls love racing up and down the stairs, watching the world from their favorite windows, and exploring their collection of toys and tunnels. Most of all, they have filled their home with happiness.
“These girls are such a joy for us and are perfect sweethearts! They love to chase each other up and down the stairs, resting in front of their favorite windows to watch all the action outside. They love their countless toys and tunnels. They are a great addition to our home.”
We couldn’t be happier that these sisters are still enjoying life side by side.
Queen Rosie
Some cats simply know they belong in charge.
Beautiful Rose, now lovingly called Rosie, certainly does. Four years after her adoption, she continues to reign over her household with the confidence and charm we remember so well.
Her family shared that Rosie enjoys long naps, spending time with her favorite humans, and making sure everyone remembers exactly who runs the castle.
“We adopted Rosie (aka Rose) four years ago from Caring for Cats. I have to say Rosie is living her best life! She enjoys napping and spending time with her humans. The whole family adores her and she knows that she is the queen of the castle!”

Orville
When Orville arrived at Caring for Cats in 2021, he was a quiet, shy boy who needed time to trust people.
Today, he’s a completely different cat.
His family recently celebrated his fifth Gotcha-versary and shared that Orvy has blossomed into a confident lap cat who loves snuggling and soaking up all the attention. While he said goodbye to his feline friend Finn last year, he’s adjusted beautifully and now enjoys being the king of the household.
Stories like Orville’s remind us that some cats simply need patience, love, and the right family to become the cats they were always meant to be.
Sunny & Savannah
Some friendships are simply meant to last forever.
Sunny and Savannah met as roommates at Caring for Cats and quickly formed a bond so strong that we knew they belonged together. After waiting 16 months and 9 months respectively, these sweet girls found their forever home together on Valentine’s Day.
Their family shared that both girls have been growing more confident every day. Savannah has taken charge at mealtime, while Sunny enjoys watching the neighborhood through the windows. They’ve discovered their voices, charmed the neighbors, and continue to blossom with the patience and love they always deserved.
Sunny and Savannah are also a reminder that your support changes lives. Because of our generous donors, Savannah received the surgery she needed, and both girls had the time to wait for the perfect family—together.
Sherbert
One year ago, Sherbert celebrated his own fresh start.
After surviving life as a stray and losing one eye because of a virus he contracted before rescue, this resilient boy found the loving home he deserved.
Today, he’s enjoying everything a cat could want: string toys, a favorite cat tree, fresh water straight from the sink, and the occasional “accidental” bite of tuna salad.
His family summed it up perfectly:
“We truly are blessed to have found him and love him like a child. He is a very happy boy and never leaves my side.”
From the uncertainty of life on the streets to a family who cherishes him every single day—Sherbert’s story is exactly why we never stop believing in second chances.

Oscilloscope Laboratories presents CatVideoFest 2026, a compilation of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses.
Each year, across the country, local theaters partner with nearby cat-focused charities, animal welfare associations and shelters alike and a portion of ticket proceeds from this showing at The Heights Theater will be donated to Caring for Cats!
