There’s something pretty special about hearing from cats who once called Caring for Cats home. Once they settle into their forever homes, their personalities have room to grow, their routines become their own, and they become an important part of their families.
Here are a few of the wonderful updates we’ve received lately!
Peeko Has Her Humans Right Where She Wants Them
Peeko was quite the diva during her time at Caring for Cats. She needed a room all to herself and was very clear that she had no interest in sharing her space with other felines.
But once Peeko decided that her humans were hers, she quickly had them trained.
These days, Peeko has a set schedule that her family knows better than to stray from. She loves hanging out in her treehouse, visiting her aquarium, and spending a relaxing day perched on top of her scratching post, staring at her humans.
And after a busy day of Peeko-approved activities, her favorite place to be is curled up in their laps.
“She’s the best little girl ever!”
Bensyn Found His Family
When Bensyn was at Caring for Cats, he was easy to miss. When his future family visited in 2020, he was hiding in the back of a little gray house.
They had come to meet other cats, but something about that scared little guy caught their attention. Five and a half years later, Bensyn has blossomed into a loving, affectionate companion.
He loves to snuggle, sleeps in the windowsill soaking up the sunshine, and no longer runs when people come into the house or when the vacuum comes out.
His family says they feel lucky to call him family. And we feel lucky they saw the little cat hiding in that gray house and gave him a chance.
Earl Gray Is Settling In
Earl Gray is settling into life with his new family and already enjoying some important new adventures, including playing with the puppy!
He’s still figuring out his relationship with the older dog, but his family is giving him the time and space he needs to adjust.
And while they’ve kept his name, they’ve discovered that “Earl” is what they mostly call him these days.
Sounds like Earl Gray is right where he belongs.
Teddy Celebrates One Year Home
Teddy, also known as Big Ted and Teddybears, recently celebrated his first gotcha-versary!
His family says he is one of the most intense and playful cats they’ve ever known. They’ve learned that some of the leg-grabbing he did at the shelter was probably his way of saying, “Wait! I’m not done playing!”
Now Teddy has plenty of interactive toys and gets one to two hours of playtime every day.
His family has also learned that settling into a forever home can take time. It took Teddy nine months to start occasionally sleeping on upholstered furniture, and he is still learning to fully trust that he is home for good.
Today, he loves being brushed, watching outdoor critters, napping in the sunshine, and occasionally surprising his human with one of his famous ambushes.
He no longer grabs, bites or scratches, and his family describes him as a smart, sweet and deserving little guy.
We couldn’t agree more.
